We have Windows Vista software in stock at our shop for those who are interested.
However we recommend that if you already have Windows XP and are
dependent on other softwares for your business or entertainment, put off
upgrading to Vista until the drivers for those softwares are available.
If upgrading to Vista from other Windows versions, don't use the
upgrade option... do a clean install. You'll need to back up any files
that you want of keep, but it will save time in the end.
Do we recommend Windows Vista?
No. Quite frankly Vista has nothing to offer that XP has not got... anything that is of any use that is.
With Windows XP, if you have only 256 Mb of ram or less you may find that by today your computer is running slow. That's because XP has since been bloated from updates and consumes about 200 Mb of ram. Now you need at least 512 Mb of ram. Windows Vista requires 1 Gb of ram just to get by.
Last week we had 2 new laptops brought into our repair shop because they were running slow. They were both running Vista and had 1 Gb of ram, and were less than 2 months old!
Who says the latest is any good?
The conception that the latest release of anything is worthwhile having is a misconception borne from naievity and advertising hype.
