Power surges are still killing computer components
Most computers brought into our shop for repair have components damaged by power surges. Surges can damage modems, power supplies, hard drives, video cards and even kill your ram chips.
Other vulnerable equipment is printers, Broadband routers and screen monitors.
Until you have a UPS protecting your equipment and not just a power board with surge protection that trips when it's too late, you run the risk of losing hundreds of dollars worth of equipment.
A UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) includes battery and circuitry to provide continuously filtered power for the most effective protection. A UPS not only protects from surges but it also provides power during dropouts. When a dropout is for more than a fraction of a second it can abruptly shut down your computer causing damage to the Windows system and other program files.
The current price for a 650VA UPS with 5 plug sockets and built-in protection for phone lines is $110.
We keep plenty in stock and they come with a 3 year guarantee.
