Now that Windows 7 is available there are upgrade options available through Microsoft however care should be taken before upgrading because your computer may not yet support Windows 7.
Current motherboard manufacturers may not yet have the drivers required for Windows 7 available and older model motherboards may never be upgraded at all. Without the drivers you will have no internet connection or sound and poor quality graphics.
Windows 7 is very much like Vista which requires much more computer power and memory to run than Windows XP, so any upgrades from computers still running Windows XP will more than likely not perform well if at all... Windows Vista and Windows 7 will require at least 2 GB of ram.
