Google no longer provides quality search results. In fact it's no longer interested in providing search results that are the best match for your keyword search at all.
Sure, if you are looking for a particular web site you may be lucky to find it on the first result page, but it may no longer be at the top of the results. And if you are looking for anything in particular for shopping or research, you will be very lucky if you now find the closest match to your query within 3-5 pages of results.
That is because Google is no longer a search engine. In fact it never was a search engine. Yes, it may have been disguised as one and for years now, they have been trying to make themselves popular by offering lots of free services and software, which by the way have been plagiarized by others and merely inferior imitations of the originals. When it comes to Copyright you will find that Google has zero tolerance for privacy or intellectual property rights. What it collects, and that also includes private account information about its own paying customers and sites that have never been nor intended to be available for search, is provided to the world and your competitors for free.
Google search reports that more than 14 million web sites on the Internet currently display Google's Adwords. Every one of these sites hope to be paid for those ads and consequently have contributed to much of what we now see as web pollution, ie: web sites designed to display ads based on content that that was mined from other web sites. It is interesting to note that other search engines provide different results. For example Yahoo has located 80 million web sites polluting the web with Adwords.
I doubt if anyone wants to see an inundation of advertising, unless you are one of those advertisers. Well the sad news is that anyone using Adwords to promote their products is getting ripped off severely, because even if you are only paying for results, then you will find that the ads that you are paying for are not being shown to people interested in your product at all. And that's because Google cheats... what it calls quality of search really means that by providing close proximity matches to keyword searches, really means that more ads are displayed for every search and that most of those ads will NOT be related to the search.
Google is screwing everyone to make the most profit out of their advertising network, and no-one else benefits at all... except those sites that help Google to pollute the web.
Let's do everyone a favour and start dropping Google... they have passed their use by date and do not deserve a second chance. After all, they have had their chance... we welcomed them and promoted them and for years they have been milking millions of dollars per day from an unsuspecting audience. This year Google expects to turn over about 28 billion dollars.. and is now so full of itself that it blatantly boasts itself as god of the Internet and has no qualms about the damage that has been done to businesses dependent on the Internet for their sales. In fact some have described the situation as extortion, as in dealing with a Google mafia.
If you need help in remembering which search engine used to be the number one, it was Yahoo, and today they still provide the best QUALITY search results.
Google search can be changed to another provider by going to TOOLS > Internet Options > Search > Change search results.
Google toolbar can be removed from Control panel > Add/remove programs.
Removing Google Maps and any other Google apps will definitely increase the performance of your computer.
